Art Today’s choice piece for our ‘Work of the Week’ award this week goes to Zoe Grace’s 3-D offering entitled ‘In Love’ – a particularly seasonal piece…
Currently on sale at the Lawrence Alkin Gallery, London, ‘In Love’ evokes Tracey Emin’s neon works such as ‘I kiss you’ and ‘Love is what you want’. Signage represents Grace’s main artistic medium, a path she decided to explore some 10 years ago. According to her bio, Grace defines herself as an ‘optimistic artist’ producing positive, affirming signs rather than the drab, didactic, everyday versions we have become so accustomed to. Rather than exhibiting her work, she leaves her signs out and about, for viewers to experience in situ and be influenced by during their daily life.
Grace is also involved in a creative collaboration with John Morrissey to not only explore neon artwork further, but also to produce light boxes. Art Today recommends checking out her metal leaf pieces, such as ‘I’m not sorry’ (in bronze and black), as well as ‘Happiness ahead’ (spray paint and gold leaf on canvas).
