Rejoicing At Her Wondrous Vulva The Young Woman Applauded Herself

A baby-friendly performance of this ‘celebratory exploration of female sexuality’ at the Ovalhouse Theatre, London, has just been announced…

Bella Heesom’s salient feminist production will include a baby-friendly matinee on Saturday, 25th May at 2pm.

Inspired by the baby friendly performance of Emilia, Ovalhouse, and All About You have designated the final Saturday matinee of the run as a baby-friendly performance of Rejoicing At Her Wondrous Vulva The Young Woman Applauded Herself

Combining intimate stories, comic dialogues, and – when words feel like a cage – dance, Rejoicing At Her Wondrous Vulva The Young Woman Applauded Herself is a celebratory exploration of female sexuality, taking audiences on a journey of self-discovery through pleasure, shame, pride, fury and jubilation. Male gaze may have influenced how we see ourselves and how we engage with sexuality, but what even IS the female gaze? Bella Heesom’s personal journey through how she got to think and behave the way she did, and then turned around and questioned it all, is played out as a tug of war between brain and clitoris; the intellectual vs the sensual, in a celebration of what it means to be the proud owner of a vulva.

Rejoicing at Her Wondrous Vulva The Young Woman Applauded Herself will be on at the Ovalhouse Theatre, London, from 9th to 25th May.

Bella commented:-

“This means so much to me, because I’m a new mum myself, and I’ve really missed going to the theatre. It’s so nice to be able to get out and enjoy yourself whilst caring for your little one. And having a baby can have a massive impact on a woman’s relationship with her body and her sexuality, so what better time to see a show that explores those topics with joy and hope? ”

The venue will be providing safe buggy parking, and has a café open for refreshments. All on the ground floor and fully accessible.
